Dr. Sandra Castillo discovered her true calling in 2003, dedicating her career to serving underserved populations facing significant suffering and mental illness. She began her journey after earning a degree in Music Therapy from the University of Miami.
Her clinical career started in the San Francisco Bay Area and Napa, California, where she completed an internship at Napa State Hospital as a music therapist. Following this, she provided services to forensic populations, the Veterans Home, at-risk youth in public schools, and dual diagnosis programs. During this time, she worked with interdisciplinary teams, which inspired her to pursue a degree in clinical and forensic psychology.
Dr. Sandra completed her pre-doctoral internship at South Florida State Hospital, where she treated individuals with severe and persistent mental illness in forensic settings. Today, she focuses on trauma-informed care and works with the geriatric population, particularly during the end stages of life.
A dedicated mentor to fellow clinicians, Dr. Sandra plays a key role in fostering professional and ethical practice. She is committed to enhancing patient care, diagnostic skills, and the development of clinical competence among those serving individuals and families.
